About Nature Scenes' Artist
Marie Rose grew up in both West Virginia and south Florida; she moved to Jacksonville
Beach in 1996. She has taken hundreds of photos of Hominy Falls, WV where she lived
as a pre-school child. Early in life, Marie took pictures on family trips and during
family reunions. She even has a collection of antique family photos and tin-type
photographs. For her photography class in college, she pestered her friend’s children
for portraits. She made them run, jump and ride a bicycle so that she could photograph
them in motion. Here sisters were not exempt.
Sunrise has always had been a favorite timer for her. She looks to capture the uniqueness
each sunrise provides. She feels this time of day gives a brand new start with all
of yesterday’s problems behind you. She searches for new opportunities al all times;
on a cruise, vacation in the mountains or at home.
She takes her camera with her at all times; on snow ski trips, a bike ride or while
riding a watercraft. Her neighbors wonder why they see her sitting still in front
of a flower in the yard. Flowering plants are chosen to bring butterflies to the
yard so they can be photographed during their complete life cycle. The neighborhood
children can not identify a butterfly egg, names of various butterflies and locate
the chrysalis.
She received 2 “Honorable Mention” awards in a Pennsylvania photo contest. While
in Pennsylvania, she was commissioned to take pictures of a restaurant for both
a realtor and wood craftsman. In 2004, her photo was chosen for the background of
the “Best of Jacksonville” awards. During 2006, Marie attended several small local
art shows and has now decided to go professional.
Marie wants to show an individualistic view of each image she photographs so “what
you see is what you get”.
